Here is some made up but realistic specs for the new system, that I think might just be introduced:
- Mini Blu Ray drive. (Mini Blu ray discs are now out – 15 GB DL max data capacity) seems viable and the only option to still have UMD compatibility)- Backwards compatibity with PSP UMD games and movies.
- Wifi A/G/N spec
- Bulit in 2-3.2 Megapixel webcam for GO! Messanger / Skype video support. And cellphone like photos and videos.
- Dual analog sticks
- No touch screen. To costly for production and not needed. (Too much like a DS)
- PS1 and PS2 emulator bulit-in / PSnetwork downloads for games (Like the PSP).
- Longer improved battery consumption. More power saving features?
- 1Ghz+ low power consuming processor and 128Mb of SDRam or more
- No built in Flash drive, too costly for production. (Besides Sony wants us to buy Mirco Memory sticks or MMS Duos of 16gb etc)
- Divx and other major codec support from day 1.

hey like the new idea but it needs more details but still like the new product and its details and if it had a rating i would rate it 5 stars so good luck

The only problem with that mock up for me is the biggest problem with the PSP IMO. The button layout. Either the buttons need moved or the system needs to be reworked so my hands don’t feel cramped the moment I pick it up.

Looks like a nice design, but that kind of size for a blu-ray mini player, ps2 emulator, and longer battery life don’t sound possible in something that small. The buttons on the slide-in parts seem to be too small for normal sized hands and shouldn’t the joysticks be below the buttons?
August 5, 2008 at 6:52 am
i honestly believe the slide out sides are too…”flimsy”
and a more ergonomic and practical design would be a vertical slide like many cell phones, and may also include a full keyboard.

Well… I hope this is close to PSP 3000.
Maybe 1GhZ is too much but hopefully 500 Mhz would be nice.
Ohh and PS2 support= GTA San Andreas on PSP.

Very nice concept…so do the side’s push in like a cellphone? Thats what it looks like. I think its a very realistic portral…although…a touch screen would be very cool! Like iphone n_n

i like the idea a little and that would b pretty cool but in the picture it looks like the controls slide out…whats up with that if it were as slim as it looks then the control surface would b so thin and there would be so little space inside the psp2 that you would have to have like a paper thin square inch sized mother board with all the other components andthere would b no room for a umd!!!

Maybe too ideal, but without ps1 and ps2(because you dont see L2 and R2 buttons) emulator, just compatibility for psp1 movies and games and psp2 movies and games.Dual analog sticks should be in normal (game controller) position. And same conection whit playstation 3 like psp1.

October 26, 2008 at 2:28 am
This sounds real cool, will it ever come out since the 3000 came out, where did you get this picture, is it true?
November 4, 2008 at 5:23 am
it should be touchscreen. hu cares if its not needed touchscreen is the thing these days, its what everyone wants! also it should have motion sensors, now that will be cool! if the psp2 has these ill definitly buy it i dont care how much as long as the price is fair.

i think this new model looks fabulous and all the specs is wonderful too, but i think its missing something and thats the bluetooth feature. They should reconsider that………………..shiznit

Wow, that’s an interesting concept. I don’t think the Dual Thumb sticks will work though. I couldn’t see having the other thumb stick about the buttons..
With blu-ray and the added speed increase the PSP2 could be used for more complex and nicer looking games. So it’d be like the PlayStation 2.
I can see the PS2 Emulator part being a problem. Even if they added the feature you’d need a way to make the games much, much smaller.. Unless they’re re-released via the new blu-ray mini discs.. which (IMO) is a waste of money.
Support for more media a must and a 100% doable possibility. Why these features aren’t in the original PSP I have no damned idea.
I really think it needs SOME kind of built in memory for page dumps and flash files.. without and actual flash player the PSP
fails to load the bigger flash files and the wbepages too. That’s annoying.
The Wifi is probably doable.. I don’t see why not, but I don’t think they will. Those kinds of features cost more.
Touch screen has already been done.. and you can buy a 3rd party one. This one fits with the Camera as well. I could see having a mic built in, but not a I don’t really them being able to fit one in there with the structure.. I also feel this fits with the battery life as well since these features consume the most battery life.. An ability to turn off the back light would be nice for those bright out door areas this would save ALOT of power. Ability to take away and add boost to the Speakers\Headphones. Auto wifi on and off.. Most of the time I forget it’s on and it wastes battery.
A ton more features of its own in the firmware.. the owner was calling it the “Playstation Personal” that’s simply not true due to the limits placed upon it BY THE COMPLY ITSELF! More personal features.. I mean why not. If you’ve ever used a PDA you know what I mean.
I could go on and on and on about this topic, but I’ll leave it at that just ’cause I felt like adding my two cents.

What if gadgets like the camera and gps receiver were inbuilt instead of being dismantled all the times?!!!!?
With such a large screen it can be used as video and photo viewer, gps, pda, internet browser, etc…. So a touch screen would be suitable for these kind of things…
Screen tweaks like the Iphone????? hmmmm!!! thats would be great too…
Buttons should not be moved because its more practical with the original one…

I hate it. It’s ain’t for PSP 3000 users who have bought recently there PSPs. But I think PSN games could be placed in the MS, but of course not the ISO games, PSN only. But it’s reallly unfair!

October 29, 2009 at 1:26 am
a touch screen isnt needed for psp2 because i wouldnt want to play a game especially on a system like that. lets pretend that i am playing nfs, how will the touchscreen help me? im not saying its a bad idea. the touch screen should be used in the xmb menu. eg.. scrolling through your music just with a touch of your finger. another thing, as you see in the pic of the “rumored psp2″ the analog sticks are above the “directional buttons” and the “x,[],/\,0″ where am i going with this? look at your ps2 or ps3 controller. where is the analog sticks located? is it higher or lower than the buttons? if you know where im going with this wouldnt you think jumping from the buttons to analog will be difficult. it just looks very weird to me thats all.
